Alive Below

Alive Below

By Betty Hageman

First of all,I am going to make an introduce the artwork that I chose a couple weeks ago. This artwork is created by Betty Hageman and this artwork is worth $4,750,00. The materials that she uses in the making of this painter's masterpiece are absolutely unique. The painter just uses soil, compost , mold , charcoal and acrylic paints. The materials she uses really caught my attention, Because formerly I never see the work of painting by using a soil and compost. Basically, This artwork is based on close up views of soil structure, microorganisms, the hydrosphere and atmosphere.

Secondly, I would like to give critiques and my visualization to the reader about what I see at the first time when i saw this beautiful art. I chose this artwork because this artwork is the biggest and the largest thing in the Art Gallery and because of that I prefer to talk about it more and focusing with what is in this paint all about. This artwork tells about Home World . First thing came out from my mind after seeing this artwork is the creator just want to tell about her life and her struggles. There are 3 things when i saw this at the first time; First, When you see it from the front, you will see a bunch of clouds leading to one direction and it leads up to the top right of the artwork. Secondly, If you take one step to the right , you will see something glowing near Cumulus that I talked about earlier. I assumed that she did it on purpose. It gives me a minute to realize what is the painter wants to talk about. I am guessing the painter wants us to see her vision but in a different perspective. Thirdly, I saw words begin to fade away and the image of brain looks like at the top right part of the artwork. She did it on purpose on the bottom right part, I am guessing the painter make a word is fading on purpose because I think she has too many words but she couldn't have a courage to say it and it is starting to fade away by the time passing...
