Kudler Fine Foods
Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty food store located in the Sand Diego metropolitan area. There are three different stores located in La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. Kudler has the very best in domestic and imported fare, which include bakery and pastry products, fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, condiments and packaged foods, and cheese and special dairy products. This paper will identify Kudler’s key business and accounting information needs as well as the strengths and weaknesses of Kudler’s current computer system and technology. This paper will also explain Kudler’s opportunities in terms of technology as well as their threats.
Business and Accounting Information Needs
There are many changes that Kudler could make to their accounting and business information. One of the first areas that would help Kudler would be to hire someone that would specialize in the accounting area and that person would help them in ordering their accounts. It would also be beneficial to add the statement of cash flows in the financial statement area. According to Kudler’s web site, one employee is responsible for the daily and monthly bank reconciliations. Additional duties performed by the employee include backup functions for accounts payable and payroll when the employee is not available to perform their responsibilities. This is why it would be beneficial for Kudler to hire someone with accounting knowledge to perform these duties. It might also help to add Accounts Receivable because it is important to the collection efforts.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Kudler’s initial plan is to hire a consulting firm to assist in the selection and installation of a comprehensive Retail Enterprise Management System (REMS).
