World War 1 Was a Key Event in the Lead Up to the Revolution and Without It the Revolution Would Have Never Occurred in Russia. Do You Agree or Disagree?

History:

Question: World War 1 was a key event in the lead up to the revolution and without it the revolution would have never occurred in Russia. Do you agree or disagree?

World War 1 was a key event in the lead up to the revolution. There were many other factors that will be discussed, but eventually all led to the war which in turn led to the revolution. 3 factors will be discussed other than the war, the famine in Russia and the strikes which turned into riots before the war and the big part which all strikes and riots built into, Bloody Sunday. Secondly Tsar Nicholas II and his actions during the war and the effects it ricocheted back to the fatherland and the support of Rasputin. Lastly, Russia’s involvement in the war and the impact on the war front and the impact on the general public.

Prior to the war Russia was in a very volatile state and was a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode. This was a result of the build up of resentment towards the Tsar and his inability to listen to the pleas of the people and   his   ‘go to gun’ attitude. All this resulted in the famine countrywide, strikes, riots and looting. Russian troops were in charge of the harvest and with them gone there was to be no food, which morphed into the countrywide starvation. In 1905 approximately 200,000 protestors led by Father Gapon went straight to the Winter Palace to tell their sorrows to the Tsar in hopes of him listening to the words of 200,000 men and women and children. Without any warning the palace guards opened fire at the protesters killing about 300 and wounding many more. With the result of Bloody Sunday the people were in fear and striking went up tenfold, and the revolution only got more tension packed.

The Tsar’s actions during the war and the consequences not only affected him but the whole of Russia. When the Tsar’s son the Tsarevitch Alexis had been diagnosed with haemophilia, the royal family met a ‘man of god’ Rasputin, who others knew him as the ‘Mad...

One World Essay Embryonic Stem Cell

62

They are cells that can be found in the embryo or youngest developing cells. These stem cells are obtained from eggs that have been fertilized in the lab and were never in a human body. These stem cells are used for research by scientists trying to find a cure for various diseases. They are not taken from eggs fertilized in a woman's body.

After endless research and sweat and time, the scientists discovered many interesting facts about embryonic stem cells. They can be used to cure diseases, make bold people grow hair or even grow organs like kidneys and livers for those in need. The first advantage of embryonic stem cells is they can grow easily into all cell types of the human body because they are pluripotent. Which means, they can be used to grow tissues, blood, nerve or other cells in the human body. It can be used to research further more about the human body's cell. For example, drug and medical testing, treatments for diseases, and advances the research of cancer, spinal cord injuries, diabetes. Since it does not require any human or animal testing, hence saving the lives of both. According to PETA, more than 70 million animals are killed, blinded or otherwise injured by medical testing each year. With the research of embryonic, there wouldn't be any need to kill any animals anymore. Embryonic stem cells not only are very safe, they definitely are having a lot of potential for medication, treatments for many diseases also.

The first disadvantage of the Embryonic stem cells is they are difficult to control and it may take many trials, experiments and attempts before scientists are able to derive the desired cell line from them. Since Embryonic Stem cells are still in the process of researching, and understanding, there is a possibility that these cells can trigger cancer or tumor formation. Another minor disadvantage is by using embryonic stem cells, the injected person requires a lifelong use of drugs to prevent rejection of the tissues. Moreover,...

Brave New World

Throughout “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, the concepts of consumption and utopia are constantly juxtaposed and compared to determine whether or not they are genuinely compatible. Although one could state that the citizens of this world in   “Brave New World”   are genuinely happy, this is more a result of ignorance and blindness rather than a truly fulfilling sense of bliss. Because the state in   “Brave New World“   has meticulously given consumption an almost holy significance, the culture that exists around it must accordingly be conducive to it.

As a result as the constant emphasis on consumption in “Brave New World” the signifiers of identity such as a concept of nature, religion, and self, have been obliterated to foster a powerful and complete reliance on the state. Because of the almost infantile degree of dependence the state has created in   “Brave New World“   the culture of consumption is able to thrive. It is only through the character of John, who is most allied with our perception of reality, that the reader is able to discern how the ideas of consumption and utopia cannot be compatible. Through his eyes, it is possible to see how instead of creating happiness in   “Brave New World“   by Huxley the combination of these two opposing forces breeds dependence and destroys the individual.

The culture of consumption in “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley is the engine driving the success and “happiness” of the state. Although to the masses it may seem as though identity is something secure and comfortable, it is rather based upon identity-obliterating principles of mass-production and consumerism. All traces of human elements of individuality and identity have been replaced by the concept of the common good and even ideas about love, family, and sex have been reduced to the maxim, which is one of the important quotes from “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, “everybody belongs to everyone else” (26). Furthermore, the basis of life in “Brave New World”...
