Pollution

 Problem: greenhouse gas pollution
Reason: burning fossil fuels
Sub-reason: create much carbon dioxide
Solution: phasing out fossil fuel
Example: not building any new coal-burning power plants

Pollution whether it is vehicular, electrical or industrial is the main contributor to the global warming. Most of the greenhouse gas emissions come from the burning of fossil fuel for energy such as electricity and transport. When oil, gas or coal burns, carbon contained within it combines with oxygen in the air to create carbon dioxide.
Coal is the major fuel that is burnt in these power plants. Coal produces around 1.7 times as much carbon dioxide per unit of energy when flamed. Over 75% of the electricity worldwide is produced by burning fossil fuels. Many gases are sent into the air when fossil fuels are burnt of which main is the carbon dioxide gas.
By driving cars, using electricity from coal fired plants and heating up our homes from natural gases, we release carbon dioxide and other heat trapping gases in the atmosphere. This all will cause the greenhouse gas pollution and lead to global warming.
Burning of fossil fuels likes wood or coal produces more carbon emissions than other product. Therefore, phasing out coal burning power plants and not burning fossil fuels directly will reduce dependence on fossil fuels. There are many ways to begin this process. For example, not building any new coal-burning power plants, initiating a phased shutdown of coal plants starting with the oldest and dirtiest, and capturing and storing carbon emissions from power plants
