In order to have a solid start to the assignment, the group decided that each individual should review the case alone, take notes and come to class prepared with valuable feedback. This prior preparation helped us build a foundation of knowledge that allowed us to analyze the simulation as a whole and make decisions that we thought could helps us win the game. Each of us studied the GlobalTech case, its history and the predicament that the company was facing. It was clear that the firm had acted as a supplier to the military market in the past and was now deciding to enter the consumer market. We also learned that communication was a major issue within the firm, especially between the R&D department and Marketing department. The firm’s new direction and planned growth was being hindered by the lack of communication between departments, which in turn lowered employee moral and lead to poor financial performance in recent years. GlobalTech would almost certainly face bankruptcy in the near future if nothing drastic were done.

After the group did its homework, we believed we were ready to rectify the firm’s stance in the market. In order to get a feel of the game, we all decided to work together on finding possible solutions without properly reviewing the “interactive model”. This obviously led to a massive failure, where we wasted the whole budget trying to use the most expensive tactics, hoping they would yield the best results. That obviously was not the way to go about it. Although it took us a while to get into the vibe of the game, we soon realized what mistakes we were committing, and that time and intelligent thinking were imperative to solving this case.

We reviewed the change theory that was presented in the interactive model, and went over the seven stages that would ultimately guide us to success.
